Benefits of Renting vs. Buying

As a first-time home buyer, it’s natural to suffer some anxiety during the process. Just remember, there are numerous benefits to homeownership: Your mortgage payment will stay the same for years, you will build equity over the years, plenty of tax savings options, increase in net worth and stability.

Rental rates are increasing year by year, which usually leads to constant moving, incurring moving costs and stressful searches. Also, landlords have been stricter with the application process and tighter rules on owning pets, which can make matters worse. Despite the current market conditions, there are opportunities for first-time homebuyers.

Luxury Home Prices on the West Coast Dropping

The home prices on West Coast luxury real estate have seen significant drops in prices due to high interest rates and tech layoffs. Although cash buyers are continuing to buy these luxury properties, they are paying less than asking price. San Francisco’s luxury home prices dropped 12.7% in the last year, whereas Seattle’s dropped by 12.3%.

China Sale of New Homes Plunging

Declines in new homes and cancellation of a share placement by Country Garden, China’s biggest property developer, complicated the ongoing real estate crisis. 4.7% decline in new home sales from a year ago by 100 developers. Would-be buyers are reluctant to purchase due to rising unemployment and falling home prices.
